File sizes differences between listed and downloaded records

Postby zav on Fri Apr 03, 2009 5:56 pm

Hi,

File sizes reduced during download from my iPhone to my PC (using either IE or Firefox, resulting file on PC has the same size for both browsers). No error displayed or logged during download.

In browser window:
New Memo 2 03.04.09 20:07 12.3s 274432 Personal unknown LQ wav mono

Downloaded file has size of 207 Kb (212 086 bytes).

Furthermore, none of mediaplayers including Windows Media Player and winamp are able to recognize format of the file.

Background:
iPhone3G, iProRecorder
Connect via WiFi Access Point DLink DWL-G700 in 802.11g mode (other apps working fine over the same connection)
PC AMD Athlon 3.2 GHz/ 2Gb RAM/ > 1Tb disk arrays
OS: M$ Windows XP SP2 Rus
Other software: Internet Explorer 6.0.2900.1800.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158,
Mozilla Firefox 3.0.7, K-Lite Codec Pack (corporate) 4.70c, Windows Media Player 9.00.00.3250, Winamp 5.

Need your help in resolving the issue. It is guessed to be an undesired behavior at transfer protocol level cutting the size of a file or making unknown conversion of the transferred file.

Does the file you downloaded to your PC have the .WAV extension on the filename? If not, adding it may solve the problem.

Hope that helps-

Yes, it has .WAV extension. However, it is not a WAV by format.

Where can I email a downloaded file to?

I have same problem here.

1.The file size listed in browse is 5,875,712 bytes.
2.Downloaded file has size of 5,501,386 byes.
3.Downloaded file have the .WAV extension, but can not be play.
4.File tranfered by email has size of 5,875,712 byes. and play very well.
5.I checked the content of both files, .Downloaded file seems miss the first 374,326 bytes.
7.Just for testing, I write a little program to insert the miss bytes to downloaded file, and it play well ,too.

Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. I guess it is intermittent bug because I have managed to download some files before.

- Download via webserver gives a corrupt file. It is not wav or mpeg4. The file lacks a header and look like raw data.

- E-mailing a compressed or uncompressed file works.

OS: Windows 7 (64 bit)
Router: Neatgear, WNR3500v2
Browser: IE, Firefox or Chrome makes no difference
Device: iPhone 3G (MB496KS)
Device OS: 3.1.3
