BIAS ANNOUNCES PEAK 3.1
New Version Adds Support for QuickTime 6, AAC and Other Feature Enhancements
Macworld Expo • New York City, NY • July 17, 2002 Booth #561 • BIAS Inc. today unveiled Peak 3.1, a new version of the award-winning digital audio editing application. This upgrade adds support for QuickTime 6, encoding audio with Dolby's AAC, and several other feature enhancements. based upon the recently released Peak 3, Peak 3.1 is native for Mac OS X and will also run under Mac OS 8.6 — 9.x. The upgrade will be available free of charge for owners of Peak 3.
"Since our recent release of Peak 3 for Mac OS X, we've been hard at work continuing to add features and improve functionality," said Jason Davies, VP of Worldwide Sales for BIAS. "We're pleased to be offering Peak 3.1 to owners of Peak 3 at no charge. The upgrade includes a number of features and enhancements that they will really appreciate."
Support for QuickTime 6, Dolby AAC Files and More
Peak 3.1 includes support for the QuickTime 6, the latest release of Apple's cutting-edge delivery solution for media-rich content. Peak 3.1 also adds support for Dolby AAC audio files. AAC is the new standard for high-quality bandwidth restricted audio delivery. It provides more efficient compression than older formats such as MP3, yet delivers quality rivaling that of uncompressed CD audio.
Peak 3.1 includes several other feature enhancements, including a Duplicate command, which quickly and easily enables automatic repetitions of audio material within a file. The Duplicate command is useful for loop-based composition as well as other instances where audio is repeated. Peak 3.1 also adds user-definable contextual menu support, a quick and useful way to access relevant menu commands within the application.
Peak 3.1 also includes enhanced WAVE file support. Markers, loops regions, and other information are all maintained within WAVE files created within Peak and opened in other WAVE-compatible applications. Additionally, Peak 3.1 now supports Broadcast WAVE files with Broadcast Audio Extension chunks and 24 bit WAVE files.
Pricing and Availability
Peak 3.1 will be available August, 2002 through the BIAS Worldwide Network of Dealers and Distributors for a SRP of US $499. Upgrades to Peak 3.1 are free of charge to owners of Peak 3.
